Yogurt Slinging

Yesterday we went grocery shopping at Earth Fare to supplement the assortment of pastas and white rice we have already. Or rather, to create the nutrient value of our meals.

1 bunch of kale
1 bunch of carrots
1 bunch of bananas
2 plums
1 grapefruit
1 large bag of red grapes
1 32 oz. container of Nancy's Plain Non-Fat Yogurt
1 6 oz. container of Chobani Pomegranate Non-Fat (Non-Organic) Yogurt
2 cans of black beans
1 can of Amy's vegetarian chili
1 container of (local) Roots red pepper hummus
1 4 fl.oz. bottle of Naturally Fresh Lavender Spray Mist deodorant
1 5 oz. tube of The Natural Dentist Anticavity Peppermint Twist toothpaste
= $38.34

I wish I had not talked Robert into letting me try the Chobani yogurt. It was a waste of money. The pomegranate flavor was what drew me to it, not so much the whole Greek yogurt business. Been there, done that. Still prefer Nancy's if I'm going to go the animal milk yogurt route. Just as much probiotics and flavor for less buck. Plus, those containers are recyclable in my area.

Have you noticed that people who really like yogurt are all uppity about the particular brand or kind that they like, to the extent of arguing about it? Granted, the arguments never turn ugly. I have never shouted, "You just like the Greek yogurt 'cause it costs more, bitch!" at anyone, nor have I pulled anyone's hair for telling me that Nancy's yogurt tastes sour. It would be amusing, though, wouldn't it? And then sad... very sad.

Fantasies about yoga pant wearing, yerba mate sipping women brawling over yogurt aside -- we've bee making good choices. Not perfect, but good.

This... *

.... is certainly better than this...

See!

For lunch I had a slice of tomato and goat cheese pizza with sides of fruit salad and cucumber salad from Earth Fare. Robert got almost the same thing minus tomatoes and goat cheese, plus more greens in his salad. It had a very basic, yummy dressing of olive oil and lemon juice with spices.

Dinner we did separately. I had a bowl of Amy's Cream of Mushroom soup with about 1/2 c frozen peas added and a multigrain bagel for dipping. I suppose it's a weakness, but I have difficulty eating soup without bread or crackers (unless it's more of a stew than a soup). It just doesn't seem filling on it's own! Okay, okay. So, that's not an excuse to load up on bread. Noted.

My upcoming goal is to acquire shoes for running. But now I need to go eat!
